“Call to Mind” to release five new episodes during Mental Health Awareness Month
The mental health series will be available on broadcast, podcast, and online
ST. PAUL, Minn., April 29, 2026 – American Public Media’s acclaimed mental health series, “Call to Mind,” is back with five new special reports for Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Each episode will feature sound-rich stories from across the country that amplify the voices of people living with mental health challenges as they journey to live well.
This year’s series will be hosted by veteran MPR News journalist Angela Davis, who will talk with industry experts and lead listeners through vivid and thoughtful conversations around vital mental health issues that shape our lives.
“‘Call to Mind’ is truly a public service. There has never been a better time to have quality and important mental health conversations,” said Davis. “The more we know, the better equipped we are to help others and to help ourselves with our well-being.”
The five new episodes in this year’s series will explore topics such as stress, climate-related anxiety, sleep and mental health, immigration, and a special episode made in partnership with the “Tradeoffs” podcast, centered around how Durham, North Carolina, reimagined its mental health crisis-response system.
Since its launch in 2018, “Call to Mind” has featured hundreds of interviews with collaborators, mental health experts, care providers, and people personally affected by mental health challenges. The initiative has reached over one million people through hourlong specials that air each May, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month.
In addition to airing on broadcast public radio stations around the country, this year’s series can also be listened to online and as a podcast wherever you get your podcasts.
